You’re welcome to bring us a quote from another MHIC-licensed contractor, and we’ll see if we can match or beat it. Renovation Real Estate is a licensed and bonded residential building contractor. However, some contractors may charge less for the same work because they’re not licensed and do not have adequate insurance to protect you from lawsuits due to injuries on the job site and faulty work. Unpermitted work brings liability, leading to lawsuits — even after your property is sold.

Some real estate agents offer to manage property renovations. When considering your options, it’s crucial to ask the following questions: Who is your agent hiring to renovate? Are they licensed and insured? Is your agent insured and qualified to manage the renovation? If you’re unsure, you could be liable during the upgrades and even after your property is sold.

Other agents often hire a general contractor to make sure the project is completed correctly. However, the agent will likely significantly mark up the general contractor’s price, which you pay for.
